YOU MUST BE APPROVED BY AN INSTRUCTOR TO SPAR
- Minimum of 3 months of consistent training under observation of current instructor
- Minimum of 1-2 years consistent training under another instructor
- You must be controlled with practice
- You must own your own Striking equipment:
- 16oz Boxing gloves
- shin guards
- Mouthpiece
- Groin Protection
PRACTICE RESPECT & GRATITUDE
- Be respectful – Always
- To the art ~ Follow the rules and stay humble
- To the instructors ~ Be on time and do your best ~ Listen and apply lessons
- To your fellow classmates ~ Be kind and do your best ~ Mutual benefit
- To our school ~ Clean up the equipment you used
- To your sparring partner ~ Give respect to each other before and after matches
- Always speak in a positive manner and help lift your fellow classmates up
- No foul language or discriminatory talk
RULES FOR SPARRING
- Use the Muay Thai rule set unless discussed otherwise
- Be controlled with your practice: Do not go 100% – Be technical
- Communicate with your sparring partner about the appropriate level of intensity
- Adjust to your partners experience
- Leave your ego at the door
- Give your partner your respect
- Stay calm and collected
- Do not go for the knockout
- No hard strikes to the head
- No head kick contact
- No teeps to the knee
- No elbows
- Knee lightly
- Wear all protective gear
- Stop sparring immediately when the round ends
- No foul shots: Back of head / Groin / Spine
- No wrestling takedowns or Judo throws / No sweeps using the back of the leg
CLEAN UP – RESPECTING THE SPACE
- Keep all equipment clean: yours and ours / Your gear should not stink
- Clean all equipment that you used and help clean the mat area after training is over
- Leave the space the same as it was or better than it was before you came in
Code of Conduct
- Be Respectful ~ to this gym and everyone in it.
- No profanity or offensive language.
- Arrive to the gym early enough to change, bow-in and start on time.
- Sign in when you arrive at the gym.
- Ask for instructor permission prior to using any equipment.
- No talking while the instructor is talking.
- Do not hurt yourself or others.
- Be controlled with your practice.
- You are responsible for your partner’s safety.
- You need instructor permission to do leg locks.
- You must have the appropriate gear to participate in your chosen program.
- No food or drink in the training area.
Code of Cleanliness
- No shoes on matted area.
- Shoes must be worn in the bathroom and/or outside.
- Come to class clean, finger- and toenails trimmed, teeth brushed and wearing deodorant.
- Workout gear must be clean before practice.
- Shower and wash workout gear immediately after practice.
- Do not wear dirty workout clothes to class.
- If you use our equipment, clean it and put it back neatly where you found it.
- Help clean the mats at the end of class.
- Clean up your belongings and throw your trash away.
