Gordon Emery

Gordon was introduced to the martial arts in 2002 through a Kung Fu style known as Wing Chun, which he studied for four years. Gordon has been studying and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2004 and has earned the rank of purple belt. He has been training with Andrew Smith and the Revolution BJJ Team since 2006. Gordon has been teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Charlottesville for the past two years. In 2005 he began to train in Judo and has earned the rank of blue belt, and in 2007 he began training in Muay Thai.

Gordon was recently certified as a US Grappling Referee and maintains current First Aid and CPR certifications.

Gordon travels regularly for training and is constantly looking for details to bring back and share with the class.


Nick Douris

Nick started training martial arts in 1985 with an Okinawan form of karate called Shorin-Ji Ryu — achieving the rank of black belt in 1991. In 1997 he studied Myo Sim karate achieving the rank of green belt. His Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training started in 2005 and earned the rank of blue belt in 2006. In 2007 Nick began assisting Gordon with BJJ instruction at the Charlottesville Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school.


Jun Ortega

Jun started practicing Muay Thai in 1997. He has also trained in Kali Silat and Jeet Kune Do. In 2000 he started studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2001 Jun received an associate instructorship from the Thai Boxing Association. Since then he has been teaching both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu around the Virginia area. Jun has been associated with Gordon’s class since 2006.
